Avocado and Salt Scrub

September 24th, 2018 No comments

One of my favorite natural scrubs to make is one with avocado. They have so much oil in them that you don’t need to add anything but the salt. So it’s super-simple to make.

My daughter has an avocado tree in her backyard, so through the fall I have a virtually unlimited supply for free. Lucky me!

Here’s what I do. It’s not a scientific formula but it doesn’t need to be.

  • Cut the avocado in half lengthwise.
  • Save one of the halves for eating.
  • Mash up the other half with a fork in a large bowl.
  • Pour in coarse sea salt or kosher salt
  • Use about as much salt by volume as the avocado or more.
  • Stir it all together. It will still be somewhat mushy but not stiff or runny.
  • You need to use enough salt so that it’s grainy and the salt hasn’t melted.

Use it right away in the shower. Get yourself wet then rub the avocado/salt mixture all over. Rinse well so you don’t turn your towel green when you dry off.

Your skin will feel unbelievably smooth and silky.

Unused scrub will keep in your refrigerator for a week or so because of the high salt content.
